I was reading one of my mom's back issues of Country Living and found their article on how to turn a mason jar into a soap dispenser. Last year my new year's resolution was to make a new recipe a week. This year I'd like to try to work on a craft a week... I've got a few things in the works but this is one of the (small) projects I'm most excited about.
I'm moving a little slower on my projects than I did pre-baby... It's hard to get used to the slower pace of getting things done... I'm still not finished with the chairs or painting the bedroom (uggg)... I'm now happy having a to-do list with five things on it and accomplishing three of the things I listed... no more lists that I can crank through anymore so I suppose my projects will have to be smaller like Mason Jar Soap Dispensers.
AJ keeps reminding me that my "job" during maternity leave is not to get projects done around the house... even though we've got a million of them, it's just to spend time with Drewbie (which I'm totally doing, don't worry!). When AJ comes home at the end of the day there isn't much I can tell him I've done besides feed Drew, change his diaper, cuddle with him and get a few things done while he sleeps. Are there any other new moms who feel guilty for getting so little done while home on maternity leave or am I the only one?

Jen, you are not alone. Every day when Mike gets home I am always trying to "justify my existence" by telling him things like, "I swept the kitchen" or "I balanced the checkbook". He's always encouraging and thanks me for doing those things, but I wish I could just rest in the fact that these small tasks are important and not feel like I need him to know about each and every one of them! :)
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I am AMAZED at what you are getting done--PAINTING ROOMS?! Are you kidding me?! I feel accomplished if I've taken a shower, emptied the dishwasher and maybe made dinner. I feel like each week it gets a little bit better and I have a little more free time. So with your productivity (which I wish I had!), you'll be crossing off all 5 things in no time! (And even if you don't, time caring for Drew is so valuable.)

I definitely love the idea of such fantastic and beautiful handmade soap dispenser, which is not only much more productive and hygienic than an ordinary bar of soap, but also due to the fact that it is build only from some jar and pump it cost close to nothing! What is more, this device is not leaving any stains or making the mess just like an ordinary bar of soap. And, last but not the least, because of the fact that it is really easy to use, it can be appropriate for everybody irrespective of the age.
ReplyDeleteJen I was googling soap dispensers for our registry and this link to your blog was one of the first! Thought that would be exciting for you! :)
