Drew's Nursery

The nursery is practically complete now! I'm just waiting for my Dad to finish Drew's mobile... it is going to be six sailboats with real sails... he's making the whole thing from scratch but that'll be another post. He is an engineer and artist (and a major perfectionist) so I'm pretty sure it'll be fab. We are waiting patiently (sort of, well, really I can't wait...) to see his masterpiece. Here is a picture of the nursery before we bought the house and the previous owner lived in it:

Drew and I went out shopping today while AJ replaced the windows in the kitchen, I could tell Drew was just dying to get to Christmas Tree Shop and Home Goods. I was hoping they would have some nautical things to complete the look in his room... and Home Goods came through for me (as they always do...).

I just loved the way the light was coming into the room today...
There is the chair where it feels like I spend half my life now feeding him.

I've been trying to find just the right combo of things for this shelf for a while now... I knew I wanted textured baskets for his sock and hat collections and I'd been looking for a sailboat similar to the one above since practically the moment we found out we were expecting. The boat is what I finally found at Home Goods today (for $10!)... granted I had to take some shells off that were grossly stuck on with globs of glue gun glue but I knew it would look okay after the minor surgery. :)

Drew's changing table with a cute little nautical outfit that was handed down to us! The photo above the changing table is Drew at six days old. I know it's hung sort of high but I didn't want him grabbing onto it in one of his crazy moving sprees.
I wish you could see this box better but it is so neat and the best thing about it is that I found it under our bed today (you're probably thinking "ummm time to clean under there if you didn't even know that existed...). AJ was keeping office supplies in it but I thought it was more fitting to match the distressed wood of the ship's wheel above his bed. Sorry, AJ.
I put this last picture in of Drew in his crib because this is how 90% of my photos come out while he is awake. He NEVER stops moving. I swear he thinks he's in a spinning class sometimes the way his legs are moving. Oh and he can't lay sideways in the crib anymore. He's too tall. HOW did that happen???

  6. Drew is adorable, Jen! I guess you can understand now when people say, "they grow so fast"! : ) I love your nursery. This would be perfect for my hubby's boss and his wife who are expecting and they live by the beach. I know her furniture is white, too. I'll have to see if I can't show them this blog post for some ideas. Thanks for sharing!
