pantry makeover

I've been working on making a cabinet into a piece of furniture this weekend and, like any project, it's taken me far longer than I anticipated. To make myself feel better and like I've accomplished something on this long weekend I tackled one of my small projects on the to do list...
Organizing the Pantry! (how fun, right?)

It was basically out of control:

So I decided to spend half an hour and reorganize. Half an hour inevitably turned into an hour and 15 minutes but it looks better now so I'm not too upset. :) I took baskets and vases that I had stored in the basement and used them to organize so I could easily see what we needed when I (and my partner in crime, Drew) did a grocery store run.

My pictures turned out terribly... I'm awful at taken photos at night.

I put our different kinds of potatoes and onions in separate glass vases because I never knew how much many I had when I got to the grocery store... now it's just a quick look into the pantry instead of taking down the wooden box and going through it.

I designated a wooden box for everything we use for breakfast (bagels, peanut butter, honey, etc) and lined the cereal up next to it. One of my favorite changes is the wooden basket on the bottom shelf on the left, it has all the things I need for baking (salt, baking soda, baking powder, brown sugar, coconut, chocolate chips, etc) so I just take that one basket out when it's time to make chocolate chip pumpkin bread (one of my many weaknesses) and I have a couple glass jars of sugar and flour next to it.

As for all the leftover stuff... only canned goods and cleaning products were left and they went onto a rack on the door leading to the basement (which is right next to the pantry). Easiest makeover ever and not a dime was spent. :)

  1. Jen! I need to finally introduce myself! I found your blog through my sister, Britany Napolitano and I can't get over how many things we have in common! I went to Gordon and live in Manchester... how have we not met?!?! Love your blog! : )
