Black and White uber simple table

I've been feverishly trying to update our Home Tour page which has meant that my regular post today will suffer from a lack of creativity... but I guess sometimes that is okay, sometimes simple and clean is nice and calming. And just so you know, updating the Home Tour page is so much less blogging and it's more cleaning and organizing my home so you don't think I live in a chaotic mess. The page should be done-ish tonight, but I'll post when it's live.

I left off of my tablescape series at the month of October. Now that it's the middle of January I couldn't bring myself to break out the spiders and whatnot for the black and white Halloween tablescape. They are still sitting in the bag but maybe that'll come out in... oh... 10ish months. :) For now, enjoy a simple black and white table setting and imagine any accessories (aka: spiders for Halloween) that you'd like.

These napkins are really just squares of fabric I've been meaning so sew up... and have forgotten to do so. Whatever, just fold the edges under and it looks good enough for a photo, right? :)

I thought I'd do something slightly different from my other tablescapes and put the silverware right on the napkin. I think it looks elegant on the black background.

Bet you haven't seen black hydrangeas before. I spray painted them glossy black, it was the easiest thing ever... until I thought my fingers were going to get frostbite from spray painting outside. Stupid Jen.

What accessories would you pair this with? I was thinking I'd love to see some glossy white branches with it... or maybe something silver...

  2. I love your table. When I start to read a blog post, I just can't help myself. I skim down through all the pictures first, then go back up and read the "story" along with the pictures. As I skimmed down and was looking at your last pic, I read the part above it where you ask what else could we imagine seeing with the black hydrangea (brilliant btw). The first thing I thought of was a black spider sitting on the edge of the white urn. THEN I go back up and read the rest, and think...wow, Jen must be my long lost sister or something. Too funny! GREAT table, and I'm not above tucking unfinished edges of "napkins" under for a photo either!! Love your blog, my new friend!
