At first I wanted to paint it bright yellow and put amazing Anthropologie inspired knobs on it so I got a $3 sample of paint and primer duo from Home Depot in Behr's color Sunporch. I wasn't wowed, I wanted something a little more dramatic...
I had a brainstorm after visiting one of my new favorite stores, The Building Supply Outlet, in Peabody. It's basically amazing... they have the exact pedestal sink that Pottery Barn sells for $499 for $150... but that's not all, they have these incredible silver knobs that inspired this makeover. I picked up eight of these knobs for a a total of $32.
I really wanted to have something sophisticated with it so I chose navy. What do you think of the result?
I wanted to create a unique piece of art to style the top of the dresser but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was inspired by some of the subway art that I'd been seeing in stores and on Pinterest and decided to create my own version with some of the beaches in the area. I just did this in Microsoft Word and kept enlarging each word until they were all the same width. I put our favorite beach at the top, Singing Beach, this is where I run all the time (it's a mile and a half from our house) and where we got engaged. :)
For an interesting table top display fill a cloche with some of your favorite rocks from one of your favorite beaches. I found these, and the piece of driftwood, at White Beach in Manchester.
Have you completed any fun makeovers lately?
I'm linking up to Between Naps on the Porch for her fun makeover blog party.
