Centsational Girl Guest Post

I am guest posting over at the amazing blog Centsational Girl today. You know when you discover someone with loads of style and design sensibilities and you can't get enough of them? That's Kate, Centsational Girl's author. I would live in her soothing house in a nanosecond. If you haven't been to her blog you must move it and groove it. Want a little taste of how fabulous her style is? Luscious, right?

A BIG WELCOME to Centsational Girl readers who are visiting Migonis Home! I'm thrilled to have you here! Probably the best way to get to know us is to take a little virtual tour of our home via the Home Tour tab... and then spend some time diddling around on the blog. :)

Thanks, Kate, for such a fun opportunity!

  1. I'm so happy to find your blog from Centsational Girl. We also have an old home (about 80 years old) that we are constantly working on, so it's always inspiring to read of others doing the same. I was happy to see your "in progess" photos, because hardly any room in our house is perfect yet - I always refer to it as a "work in progress". :-) What you have done so far in your home is beautiful - it will be absolutely spectacular when completed.

  3. Ah! OK so we are so meant to be bloggy friends. (I promise I'm not crazy). So I was on your blog about a week ago and loved it! I think I even told you that I'm following you and then somehow I didn't and I couldn't find you again or remember the name. So I'm back and I'm DEFINITELY following you now. Hope you'll follow back!

  10. How fun to find you on CG today! A friend of mine lived in Manchester by the sea while her husband was a student at Gordon Conwell. I loved my visit to the charming town. You've done wonders with your space. I'm looking forward to following your blog. Mine is www.detailgalblog.com, it seems we have a bunch in common. Blessings! Tina

  11. Hi Jen, just found you from Centsational Girl- I LOVED your guest post! Your house is so pretty and I loved all your tips for living large in a small space. Right now we are renting a tiny, old house and I so wish I could use some of your ideas and open this place up more! I'm always thinking how much better this house would look if there weren't so many walls separating everything. But I can't do anything like that since we're renting. I love the idea of the picnic basket to hold things in the bathroom! That's great! This post was such a great reminder to work to get the full potential out of a house.

  16. So glad to have found your blog! You don't know how much I needed to see a blog like yours this week! My husband and I also bought a fixer upper and are fixing it up ourselves. We're young, newly married, and on a limited budget...which means projects take quite awhile! It is SO refreshing to see a blog with a house that is BEYOND gorgeous, but not some sort of unobtainable standard of perfect! I love, love, love that you show all the "progress pictures". It gets so tiring to compare myself to all those blogs that have an immaculate house and can get projects done ridiculously fast. I would so much rather see a blog like yours, where you take your time doing projects and aren't afraid to show the "bad" parts of fixing up a house. Ok, I think that's enough rambling from me! lol

  21. You are going to have so many new followers. I am really happy to have found your blog on Centsational Girl. It is nice to find another New England Blogger. I'm down in Connecticut. Most of the bloggers I love seem to be down south or out west. I can't wait to see everything you do to your home.

  22. I admire your ability to live in an unfinished home. It is inspiring to me. Our family currently peruses the neighborhood and everything that is finished is too much. This is inspiring to go for a house that needs work and live in it until it gradually becomes the house that we want.

Your house is beautiful and I loved the tips you gave on CG.

    All the best,
    A

  34. Hello! I found your blog from Centsational Girl and love what you have done to your home. Our stories are similar...small coastal homes, trying to make do with what you got. My house is in Annapolis, MD, very old (almost 100 yrs old) and very, very tiny. What your husband did in your stairwell is what my stairwell is like. I am in the process of putting a skim coat on our plaster walls but dream of putting beadboard, wood planks or wainscoting but wasn't sure how far up. I also wasn't sure what to hang on that wall. You have given me some ideas! Thank you so much. I will be a follower of your blog now and look forward to your changes/ideas.

I bought a sign for my house that says "Love grows best in small houses." Perfect quote, don't you think?

  36. Glad to find your blog- I have a small cape too, and it is fun to see what you have done with yours- which looks amazing. If you're up for a question- did you ever have second thoughts about putting your dining room as your entry room? I'd like to turn my "living room" which is the first room that you walk into in my house, into a dining room since we don't have a large enough space to entertain right now- only a small eat-in kitchen area. But have read posts here and there from people who comment that walking into a dining room is too cold and uninviting looking, and might not be a good move for resale. I guess you've proven that wrong since yours looks adorable, but would love any input you have about making that decision. Looking forward to exploring your blog some more!! :)

  37. Hi! Linked over from Centsational Girl. Loving what I've seen of your blog so far. We live in the Bay Area in California and sadly money doesn't go very far here in terms of real estate so I can totally appreciate your motto of living large in a small space. I'll be back again and hope you can stop by my blog when you get a chance :)
