You may remember Jen Barnatt from her Christmas home tour that she gave during the Twelve Days of Christmas... her great style has extended into throwing a fun candy themed second birthday for her daughter Addison. I'll let you hear her story in her own words, here she is:
Jen and Addison checking out the sweets
I have always imagined how phenomenal a girly party would be to decorate and host. I have a dangerous sweet tooth and it seems the apple has not fallen far from the tree when it comes to my daughter, Addison.
Planning started months in advance and I was inspired by the "I want CANDY" line of clothing that Gap came out with in late summer last year.
I decided to save money by hanging balloons from the ceiling (instead of using helium) so I put a marble inside of each one before inflating them so they would hang nicely. Sidenote: this is what I did for Drew's first birthday party too!
The best part of this party planning was finding some incredible ornaments and decor pieces on clearance from Target and Wal-Mart... like some amazing lollipop and candy-shaped ornaments in the colorful, sherbet tones I was looking for.
Instead of the typical party favor bags I chose to combine the fun of pinata candy and the do-it-yourself technique of a candy bar. I set up our desk with a pretty tablecloth and used color coordinated birthday themed scrapbook paper along with shimmering confetti to create a colorful and classy help-yourself table. I found candies that were in perfect colors and simple bags for guests to fill as they pleased. The candy bar was a huge success!
The cake was from one of our favorite places in Rhode Island known as Allie's Donuts. The light texture is so delicious and fairly inexpensive as well.
It was so fun to plan Addison's party and set things aside way in advance so we didn't feel slammed with expenses.
The Birthday Girl
Thank you, Jen, for sharing this sweet (pun intended) birthday party. You did a wonderful job of making the "I want CANDY" theme come to life!
Any of you have today off? AJ is running the last 10 miles of the Boston Marathon today with his friend, and groomsman, Rob, and then I am going to get my first mani and pedi since Drew was born! Whoo Hooo for relaxing days!

This is adorable! So many cute ideas! love that it was inspired by the outfit from baby GAP. I would totally do this:0)
