I spray painted some frames I had all the same shade of white, Rust-oleum's Glossy White, and then had AJ do the touch-ups a couple of Sundays ago while I was still in my church clothes, he had changed into his work in the yard clothes already...
But I never hung them up or posted anything about them because I didn't have anything I really wanted to put in them. But then Drew got tired this past Sunday and I took him for a walk... with my camera. Aren't those the best kinds of walks, the ones when you can stop and take photos? I came home with this photo that AJ and I both liked:
But it was dark. And there was more blue than I wanted for the master (even though a certain shade of blue-green would definitely be characterized as my "life color"). So I did some editing last night when I got too sick of studying for my real estate test. If I fail I'll blame it on photo editing. :)
Here is what I came up with... my goal was to almost have them look like watercolors and completely wash out the background. I took the photo and cropped it twice for the zoomed in pictures and then printed the same original photo twice but hung it two different directions. I got the lighter colors in the photos by doing two things in Google's free program Picasa: playing with the "fill light" bar and the "highlights" bar.
Here they are on the wall after tons of measuring and making pencil dots. I hate projects that require patience. :)
It's a rainy day here in Manchester by the Sea and I have a sleeping little boy right now (thank goodness, because this morning he was a whiny little boy...). Anyone have fun projects for a rainy day in? We are going to be just hanging out here, and I'm trying to sell a sleeper sofa we have that is in nearly perfect condition. Any takers for $250? :)

I thought they were watercolor when I first scrolled to them -- what a very successful effect.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask about the vent that seems to be in one of your bedroom walls. Is that for your forced hot air?

ReplyDeleteLove them! especially when it's free and a one of a kind item. Be sure to sign the backs of them, keeping a record of your work for your grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and pink is such a relaxing color.
ReplyDeleteMy nap-time, rainy-day project is to get caught up on banking, bills, and then put together a video for Ethan's 1st birthday full of photos and movies from his first year. It's a huge undertaking...
ReplyDeleteNice pictures, by the way! You get so much done, it's amazing!!
Really loving the "watercolor" photos! Gives me some ideas to finish off our master space, as we're getting ready to put our house on the market. Wish we lived closer...I'd be over in a heartbeat to take that lovely sleeper sofa off your hands!
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty artwork. To me, that's the best kind of artwork, something with meaning!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Those cherry blossoms are so gorgeous, and it looks so balanced by the window. Fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteHow big does your sleeper sofa get? Is it a full size?! WE are in the market for one and i you haven't had any takers we may be interested in looking at it! I want to put one in our guest room instead of a bed because I want to leave enough room for a desk and walking around space.
ReplyDeleteYou're bedroom and other home renovations are AMAZING! I'm in love with every part of it. The pink looks great in the room and those pictures are to die for!
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with pink in your bedroom, it's soft and feminine. I love how you are decorating, even though the room isn't finished, way to go! I bet it feels less like a construction site that way.

Oh my goodness, so subtly beautiful! Total calmness in that room. It's so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous photos you took! It makes the wall look adorable :) I think the black matting really makes it..
ReplyDeleteJen, I love your master bedroom! Everything looks great...the curtains are wonderful and the photos are just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteYour revamped window box plantings make me wish our house had window boxes (Or we could add them....how do you attached them to vinyl siding/windowsills on a new house? I'm at a loss.)
I've been following your blog for a little over a month now. You have a great decorating style and I love your writing. The photos of your house especially make me miss Manchester by the Sea...I lived there for a few months when I was a student at Gordon. Can you believe I rode my bike from the center of town all the way to campus everyday? That big hill on 127 south of town made it a good workout!
Keep up the great work! =)
So pretty! I love that you used your own picture. So personal and perfect:0)
ReplyDeletePS - Now I can't stop singing "I'm bringing sexy back." to myself :0P
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous! Good job!
ReplyDeleteYou all are wonderful! It was so fun to read the comments pouring in! :)
ReplyDeleteWish I lived close enough to jump on that sleeper sofa! I like what you did with the photos - a nice, soft touch for the bedroom. I have been falling in love with pink all over again after seeing so many beautiful images on Pinterest. Unfortunately, my decorating scheme does not lend itself well to allowing pink.....hence, some changes being made. I am sure before it's all over, my husband will think Pinterest is a dirty word!
