I wanted her to have a fab shower so I asked her for some ideas that she thought would make her ideal baby shower. One of them that she threw out was a navy and coral shower. I tweaked it to navy and bright pink and we've got the makings of a grown-up take on the typical pink and blue shower. I wanted to make the invites really reflect what the shower will look like; I am a big fan of having the theme extend from the invite all the way to the favors guests take out the door. And, I didn't want to pay over a $1 an invite like you can from Tiny Prints (even though they are the cutest things EVER).
I went to IKEA with my little buddy the other day and bought this dynamite hot pink and white stripped fabric for $7.99 a yard. I'm going to make table runners out of them (uber easy, I'll blog about when the time gets closer). I took a photo of the fabric:
Then cropped it:
Then, in Word, which I've replicated to show you in Google's Picasa, I added in text and lightened the fabric (I've tweaked some of the info to keep crazies away):
After the invites are printed I am going to add a little flag banner at the top in navy (maybe with white polka dots) to tie in our other color for the event. I'm thinking about something even smaller than this one I made for Drew's 1st birthday:
Off to study now... which I should have been doing instead of working on Danielle's invite and blogging about it. :)

I'm so glad you're sharing this planning! I just hosted a bridal shower and would have LOVED to have had your talent for a few days (or longer!)
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Pinterest so I've seen some of the inspiration pins. I look forward to more posts. You're off to a great start!!
A fabulous idea, Jen! I love it!
