I wasn't sure what to blog about today. In all my free time I've been studying for my real estate exam, not creating. I sort of hate the days I haven't created something... even if it's just making a batch of cookies. Actually, that sounds really good right now... I digress. I had a coupon for Joann Fabrics, needed a blog project and needed to work on this project below for oh.... ever since we created the nursery.
You guessed it... way too short curtains from Target.
What's a girl to do? Purchase almost identical fabric, but in a different color, at Joann's! It's one of their Duckcloth fabrics and it's $10.99 / yard. Here's the view of the room with shorty short curtains from the other side.
And after I moved the chair:
Here is my new fabric which I stretched out over the existing curtains (I did pretty much this entire project while he napped). I chose this color because it would tie in the tan in his rug.
Every time I sew I break out the manual. I'm THAT much of an expert. :)
I sort of hate threading the bobbin (well, bringing it up from the bottom), but I liked this shot.
After sewing the tan fabric to the white curtain I turned the sides inward and sewed up the side seams. Basically, if you can sew in a relatively straight line you can do this project.
I measured the size I would need the bottom to be and then folded in the sides (see the mini triangle) so there wouldn't be any overlap over the side of the curtain.
Here is the finished product! It reminds me of this amazing Kate Spade shower curtain I owned after college that I found for a song at Marshalls.
