Mother's Day Weekend 2012

I had a magnificent Mother's Day weekend... It was so special and fun and relaxing. I feel like we don't nail the relaxing thing so well usually but this weekend we did, and boy was it good...

Saturday morning began with a bang when AJ, Kerry (AJ's stepdad) and I ran the Hit the Street for Little Feet 5K in town. I did it last year only six weeks after I was allowed to start exercising post C-section. This year, thankfully, I got a little better time. Baby weight lost, cross-training done with the jogging stroller and generally feeling good helped me get my best time since high school races (a 7:57 per mile... although I'm aiming for a 7:30 pace sometime this year). AJ got second place over all with 5:40 miles! Here is the babe and I after the race... I think he is trying to get away from me because I stunk. :)

Saturday morning we had breakfast with my fam and then AJ worked on replacing the windows in the master bedroom most of the afternoon. He called it quits for us to take an early dinner to the beach (I made mushroom pizza) and he bought champagne earlier that day for us to have at our picnic. I love this photo of him pouring it.

My main men after dinner.

Drew loves to play "magic carpet" at home... our picnic blanket became a beach "magic carpet". :)

I asked AJ to get a photo of Drew and I together... this is what ensued. AJ and I laughed hysterically when looking at them... especially the bottom middle. If I have any hair left by the time Drew reaches three I will consider parenting a success. :)

On Sunday AJ needed to spend a little more time on the windows since it was going to rain and he didn't like the idea of it seeping into our bedroom. More about that later on this week.

While he did that the little guy, who was still tired from just waking up, went walking in his wagon. He is obsessed with wagons, hence his first birthday party theme.

After the windows were mostly done we went on a hike in Ravenswood in Gloucester. Doesn't Drew look like such a toddler here?

Earlier that morning AJ gave me these gorgeous peonies... so here they sit on my nightstand. I told him to not get me anything because I didn't want to feel guilty about putting money into a rug or a chair... and far sooner than I expected something popped up on Craigslist that was just what I was looking for. Hint: West Elm. You'll see it later this week!

Look at this precious card with Drew's hands!

Did you have a great Mother's Day weekend?

  1. We also had a lake-side picnic and hiked, and relaxing it was. And we drove there in the same model as Drew's vehicle of choice (only mine's made by Chrysler, not Radio Flyer).:)

  2. What a fun Mother's Day Weekend! Congratulations on your super speedy 5K. I can't wait to get back into a running routine after the baby is born. Also, love the pictures of you and AJ at the beach. Perhaps he has a future as a hair-stylist? Are you raising the next Ken Peaves?

  3. I really love that your relaxing weekend STILL involved: a race, new windows, a picnic and a hike with a toddler. :)
