Pinterest Inspired Art

I have a million projects that I just want to start or that are half done and for whatever reason this week wasn't the week to finish, start or blog about projects... and last night when I had the time to sit in front of the computer AJ and I just parked ourselves on the sofa and watched the star-studded New Year's Eve. I didn't have super high hopes for it but thought it would be a good non-thinking movie because that's what it's sister movie Valentine's Day was a lot like... I thought is was cute but nothing I'll be rushing to watch again.

One of the projects I'm mid-way through is some Pinterest inspired artwork. It's been raining off and on for about two weeks which makes me feel like I'm back in Ireland visiting my sister BUT it does make for some moody pics of the ocean:

I found on Pinterest this idea to enlarge photos at Staples (they only do it in black and white). You tell them you want an "engineer print" and it's only $2.99. Before I sent it to Staples I changed the photo to be a black and white photo and then did some editing in Picasa. I lightened it, added a few highlights and added a slight black-ish frame around the edge.

Don't judge us by our nightstands. Or our uninteresting bed (a real lack of pillows)... these are all things that are in the works.

I found out the email address for my closest Staples, emailed the photo to them, told them I wanted it to be 24" x 36" and they had it done that night.

I might want to mount it on an ultra lightweight sheet of plywood but I had to see if I really liked it above the bed or not. If AJ or I don't love it (the jury is still out on my part, AJ hasn't seen it hung up yet) then it's not a big deal... only $2.99 gone.

And, if you need a little cute child fix... here you go. :)
This is Drew and his friend Mason, my friend Heather's cutie pie.

Check out Heather's fabulously cute first birthday party for Mason here... I will be featuring his second birthday at the end of the month after his Curious George themed party.

What are your weekend plans? Did anyone take up my idea for a "Weekend Dream List" in my last post? Here is mine for this weekend:
  1. Paint dresser (you'll hopefully see what I mean next week)
  2. Scottish party on Saturday night
  3. Plan fun lunch for Laura and Josh on Sunday
  4. Work on mailing list for real estate stuff
  5. Finish laundry
It's a small list because I think the dresser will take me a bit of time... a blog reader, Cathy, gave it to me! :)

  1. I love lists - don't know what I would do if I didn't have a list to work off of each day! There is nothing as satisfying as checking off each item as you complete it.

I like the black & white print and what a bargain!

Good luck with the real estate stuff! I remember when I was first getting started and preparing mass mailings to everyone in my Sphere of Influence to let them know what I was doing. It takes a while to get established - I've been at it 18 months now. But, I'm starting to see my business grow and pulling in referrals. I love what I'm doing and it's a great field. I don't necessarily have traditional work hours, but I do have flexibility and control. Wish I had done this when my kids were little!

  2. Great idea for the photo, Jen, thank you! I've been wanting a few architectural drawings/prints and that might b the way to have them printed.

    Weekend list:

    Laundry
    Bake banana bread
Work on a new quilt for the MB

  4. I am definitely a list maker! They give me such a sense of satisfaction, as I'm able to cross each job off the list. Actually, I did mention this to my husband, because He/I have had problems getting him motivated, and he's thinking this just may work! The trick will definitely be in making it realistic.
