Onto other things... I got a text from AJ on Monday morning, our trash day, it read: "Dresser at the end of the circle!!!!". Well, what do you think any good trash picking person would do? I drove Drew and I over there and tried loading this dresser into our car... until a truck full of guys doing landscaping came by and loaded it for me. I love it when that happens. :)
I'm sort of paint happy lately and decided to do this dresser in a feminine color since it has such girly lines on the bottom. It is Glidden's Ballet Slipper Pink:
The knobs are classic glass look-alike knobs I got from the Building Supply Store in Peabody. I staged the top with some sophisticated girly looking items, I just love gray and silver with light pink and used silver frames from Bed, Bath and Beyond, a silver rocking horse bank and the lamps I recovered.
Then, because I had so much fun staging this last dresser makeover different ways I decided to do the same with this one. For this photo I used two of the pink pictures from our bedroom because they were already off the wall due to some work we've been doing in there... more on that later this week.
This next stage is similar to the first one but with my favorite mirror that I use virtually every single time I stage something. I sort of want to just tell myself not to use it but I'm in love with it... what can I say?
Lastly, a very classic baby dresser...
This one reminds me a little bit of something Restoration Hardware Baby and Child would do... I found the most classic colored animals in Drew's collection and pulled them out and put them in our Emma bowl from Pottery Barn.
As for where this dresser is going...
If you think this is a not so subtle pregnancy annoucnement you are so wrong. :) If we ever have a girl the nursery will be like this mood board I did.
I'm selling it for $150 on Craigslist but if you are interested shoot me an email (jen.migonis@gmail.com).
I have a challenge for you, Blog Readers... let me know your answer in either the comments section on the blog or on Facebook. Give me an idea of something I need to use to stage my next makeover (which will hopefully be next Monday, AJ and I are just brainstorming colors now) or the makeover after that. I'm not giving you any ideas on what color I'm going to use so just hit me with your best shot. :) Oh, and if you've been reading for a while without introducing yourself now is the perfect time to do so, I want to hear from you. :)
So is this a "challenge me to use something crazy!!" sort of request? The classic go-tos are monograms/letters, candles/candle sticks & flowers. but if you want a [slightly... very slightly] out of the box suggestion, how about a tea pot or one of those old fashioned figurines that (hypothetically... well, not so much) you inherited and you treasure it because of that, but it really doesn't fit the rest of your life aesthetic? :)
ReplyDeleteAs introduction of myself: I'm Tara. I commented before on your window box situation. I live in Ohio in a 100 year old cottage that we're sloooowly renovating. We have twin 20 month old girls. and I rarely blog (like...every 2 months... maybe) at cottage1910.blogspot.com. :)
I challenge you to do a make over in a not so subtle neutral. orange? red? indigo? i'd love to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteHow do you find these things?!?! Pure luck! Love the color...it's the perfect pink.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a pink girl, but this color is so soft, it's gorgeous!

How about something done in green?
ReplyDeleteNot normally a "pastel person" but that dresser is beautiful!
I'm Nancy from northeast Iowa. I live in a new "old" house and we own/run a Guesthouse, using the original farmhouse on our property.
I challenge you to use vegetables as art in your next staging. (and not just lemons!) something crazy like collard greens or beets.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! Love your inspiring blog. This is not overly creative, but I would suggest using vintage-y items in your next staging project, such as old wood boxes, window frames, ironstone, silver pieces, etc. Burlap can also be used in so many ways. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteFriends, you all are so creative and have each given me such great ideas! Thank you! :) this coming Monday you will see a bright color (not so much a neutral) whixh I am a little worried about bc it is going in my kitchen. :) with that being said, Shannon's suggestion of using veggies to stage is going to happen and so is a teapot set per Tara... Now I just need to borrow one from my mom. I'm going to try to incorporate the other suggestions into other projects! Keep the ideas coming!
ReplyDeleteHi...........how about using an old scale, the texture of the dial face would be nice, or a piece of garden statuary?
ReplyDeleteGlobes. I'm always a fan of globes.
ReplyDeleteI'm a blog stalker of yours. I've been reading since your Centsational Girl feature. I like your laid back yet fancy style!
This dresser is so beautiful :) I absolutely love the colors you use, but I am excited to see a "not so subtle" color on Monday!
ReplyDeleteAnd as I've said many times before, thank you for your blog. It's truly inspiring. Especially your makeovers as of late. We are just starting out and I have started looking for a great dresser or hutch or table to try my own hand at a makeover.
So thanks!
Hi Jen...I've been reading your blog for a while, but just saying hi now. My husband and I are fellow Gordon alumni and are living in our small house in Salem. We are expecting our first baby in October and I have a chest of drawers that I am trying to figure out what to do with for our baby's nursery. The past few dressers you have painted and made-over are very inspirational! Thanks for the great ideas and I look forward to seeing more soon.
