Foodie Friday: Lobster Bisque

Have you seen any good movies lately? Well, not me. I got one of the five worst movies ever out of Redbox last night. And I'm not counting all of those creepy horror movies they have in there, they are in a league of their own. AJ always teases me because I pick the Jennifer Aniston movies. Wanderlust... have you ever heard of it? I just turned it on while Drew napped and I folded (loose term, more like "sorted") laundry and maybe 45 minutes later I turned it off. I kept hoping it would get better. But it didn't. It kept getting worse.

Okay, on a different note, I made lobster bisque for the first time last night as a surprise for AJ (he loves lobster). I found a recipe on All Recipes and doctored it up slightly. Ever had lobster bisque in a bread bowl? It's about a thousand times better than the movie Wanderlust. :)

Ingredients

6 tablespoons butter

6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

4 1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 cups chicken stock

3 tablespoons minced onion

3 cups cooked lobster meat, shredded

1 large potato, cubed

1 tablespoon paprika

1/2 cup light cream

 

 

 

Cook the cubed potato until tender.

 

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper and celery salt until well blended. Gradually stir in the milk so that no lumps form, and then stir in the chicken stock. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the soup begins to thicken. Add the onion and lobster; season with paprika. Cook and stir for 10 more minutes. Stir in the cream, heat through and serve.
