I've done a little tweaking to the living room lately and wanted to show off some of the changes... mainly because it feels so open to me after we just got rid of an enormous TV cabinet we have been storing in there for a house for women in transition.
Here are the two wide angle views... obviously the room is not done, and it needs some work, but for now, it's the room in the house where we've agreed not to do anything for a while while we work on other spaces.
I've mentioned previously our long term plans.. ripping off the drywall and inserting insulation which will essentially mean starting from scratch on the walls.
Did I show you these pillows before? My sister redid her bedroom and decided to put her pillows in my parents' attic to store them. Which, as far as I was concerned, meant they were fair game. :) She gave me permission to take them, don't worry.
I had the blue pillow and then just used the backside of the white pillow to add some green to the couch.
The last little change I made was to use the pallet box and place some dried hydrangeas in it. Since Drew was born I haven't had anything on the coffee table for fear he would ruin it (that is a very legitimate fear with someone who loves to hit everything and put pretty much anything in his mouth). BUT he's been a little bit more gentle with some things lately and I figured the dried hydrangeas wouldn't involve anything breaking or spilling and it's worked out okay... I do have to monitor him from patting them and making them "break" onto the coffee table.
Those are my simple little tweaks... and today I just vacuumed the whole room and even that felt like I should blog about it... it just looked so much better. :)

It looks really pretty. I love the dried hydrangeas on the table and the big mirror behind your sofa!
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned tearing down the drywall to have insulation installed. What type of walls do you have, because there may be an easier solution than that, especially if the walls have a cavity?
ReplyDeleteVery simply pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, as always Jen! Love the hydrangeas and your pallet box. I too would love to blog about the major accomplishments of my day. I.e. getting the dishes done and cleaning the bathroom!
