More Fall Decorations...

Are you getting sick of seeing fall decorations and prep yet? If you are... it's almost over... :)

We added some cornstalks to our front porch that my mother-in-law cut down from a field in Hamilton, NY (we won't disclose whether she asked permission to take them or not...) We've been saving the corn that was left on them for the chickens. Those greedy little chickens.

Here is our fall mantle... it's not too different from what it normally looks like but I added some bittersweet, some brown pears and some wildflowers.

Everything surrounds our map of Paris, which is classically mounted on a piece of cardboard :), and covers the TV when we aren't watching it.

I love these pears... they remind me of a still life.

Lastly, AJ, Drew and I took a little trip to our favorite junking stop (if you don't include the side of the road) yesterday and picked up this great industrial bin for $5... it's all rusted and looks great with a mum in it... it would look even better with two mums and some gourds in it but I didn't know what would fit when I ran to the store today... you may see this bin revisited shortly with slightly ramped up decor.

I am off to finish a fab book "Savannah Breeze" by Mary Kay Andrews. It's about a woman who flips and rents property and then has everything swindled from her. Her best friend owns a fabulous vintage shop and loves to decorate... you might guess that I'm in heaven reading this completely relaxing piece of great American literature. :)

I do love the pears, wildflowers and bittsweets! You're right, quite still-life looking and very pretty.

  3. I love the addition of the cornstalks on the front porch. And the map over the tv on the mantle when it is not in use - brilliant! I put out mums in pots this weekend and it felt good to get some Fall going on out on the porch. I don't think I ever tire of studying everyone's Autumn decor, hoping to glean some new ideas for my own. This is my favorite time of the year!!!

  5. Christine- East of Eden isn't mine... it's a friends and I'm supposed to be reading it but somehow ended up decorating with it instead. :)

Cassie- You are right about fall... it's the hunkering down look, everything does look nice and cozy now... especially when you are sipping a great mug of hot chocolate. :)

Jane- I am the same way, I love seeing as many ideas as I can for decor, especially when it's inexpensive ideas that are easy to implement!

Michelle- My pleasure! Have fun decorating!

  6. I was also wanting to purchase corn stalks for our front porch, but I heard they attract mice. Any issues with this??
