Before we even begin you are going to have to forgive me. I am trying, trying, to be better at taking photographs where there is no natural light but so far I haven't gotten much better at it. Hence, some dark and unfortunately blurry photographs in this post.
This awful photo is the best I have showing our closet without one of the drywall panels, and with the bulb dangling. Oh, and those hideous ceilings that were maybe last painted in 1950....
It's been a few days of plastering, sanding and then earlier today I put up the paint. It's Benjamin Moore's Ballet Slipper that I cut with quite a bit of white so it wouldn't be overwhelmingly pink and because I only had less than a quart leftover from this dresser. We set a goal of having the closet mostly done by Friday. I'll show you the progress thus far but you have to promise to keep an open mind, I didn't clean or stage anything for the photo. And no, you won't get to see finished pictures tomorrow... that'll hopefully be next week after we get the bars set up again. And no, again, you will not see any fabulous organizing systems, that'll come later when we allocate some mula for it.

Here is a photo showing the contrast of Benjamin Moore's Moonshine with this lightened version of Ballet Slipper (I believe it was a Glidden color). I am going to lighten the color even more for the final coat because I don't want it to be baby-ish at all. Drew gave me a fabulous nap today, which I wasn't expecting at all, and gave me time to do this while he slept. I love gifts like that... (For anyone wondering, I had all the windows open in the room and was wearing a mask while I painted and the paint was low VOC.)
Why a different color in the closet? Well, I wanted a space that brought out the pink accents in the room and a place where it wouldn't be too overpowering. We'll have at least one wall covered with clothes and hopefully some organizing systems in the future (I'm picturing fabulous white cabinets and shelves).
What are you doing on this Thursday afternoon?
I'm signing off to make Rachael Ray's Pumpkin and Black Bean Soup for dinner while AJ has taken Drew to a cross-country meet... it's nice to have the house to myself to cook and relax. :)
Boo! hoo! your comments wording is all hidden again. Why do you try to disguise it, lol!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you are really making every square inch of your house shine to it's full capicity! You go, girl!
If you want to make better photographs in dark rooms you should by OLYMPUS PEN photo camera :) Believe me! It's genius!

Thanks, Alex, your photos are great! I have a Canon Rebel so it's not a shabby camera... I guess I just need to read the directions for how to make it less blurry in lower light w/o using the flash...
ReplyDeleteSue, I can see the comments section exactly as it's supposed to be, I'm not sure what is going on... I'll try to figure it out!
Love the contrast of colors...I painted the inside of my pantry closets in a blue color that I love. Every time I reach in there, it makes me smile (the rest of the house is painted in shades of tan/white). Hey, what are you doing with those metal file draws in your last pic? I have a few too and have been racking my brain as to what to do with them. Ideas??
