Is anyone reading this post who is from Maine? Anyone who knows Bert and I? Thank them for the Maine accented post title. :)
While working on our little back mudroom redo I was inspired to create something for this narrow little wall that separates the kitchen from the living room. We had some old barn boards just sitting in the basement thanks to AJ's mom who picked them up at a yard sale for me for (wait for it...) 25 cents.
I wanted to create something original and something that was made just for our house. Enter in a directional sign to downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea... I first measured out the area and figured out what font size would work for my board (which is almost six feet tall). I settled on 400 point font and printed it out using just the outline around each letter.
I cut out the letters while lazily looking at Pottery Barn's website and watching an episode of Modern Family with AJ. The font is Garamond.
After placing them exactly where I wanted them on the board I traced around each letter with a white paint pen. This was a very easy way to get a faint outline of the letter which allowed me to fill in the lines with Benjamin Moore Vanilla Ice-Cream paint.
Here is the finished product! I am in love with it!
You can see how tiny this area is in relation to the cabinet that I redid on Monday and the door to the living room on the right.
I love the weathered wood... it looks so old and antiqued and it's the perfect texture for the space.
