It’s hard to believe it’s already the second week of December! I have waited forever to share this makeover with you because I wanted to style it for Christmas first. A few months ago I redid an older chest in that typical orange-y stain for Drew’s room. The drawers moved well and Drew can reach all of them so when we updated our walk-in closet with built in cabinets I moved this dresser out of there and into Drew’s room in an effort to help him put away his clothes and find this own clothes and get dressed each day. He’s doing great with it although he does like to tell me every. single. day. that he can’t put on his underwear or socks. I have no idea why he thinks that I will believe this when he just put on an entire outfit by himself the day before. I digress…
I painted this dresser with a gorgeous gray called Rocky Mountain from Country Chic Paint believing that I was going to sell it (then changed my mind when I got the brilliant idea to move it into Drew’s room). I probably wouldn’t have chosen this color for his room had I known it was going in there but it’s a neutral and it’s held up beautifully with a coat of poly on top.
This is the second annual year of cutting him down a Charlie Brown tree… I give him his fabric or kid-friendly Dollar Tree ornaments for this tree. It’s a little sparse now but he has some that he needs to put on that are still sitting in his Advent Calendar.
The knobs are ridiculously hard to photograph but are a gorgeous vintage style from D. Lawless Hardware that I thought were very simple compared to the more frou frou glass knobs I’ve seen out there. They work really well with the simple lines of the piece.
I staged the top with this great old sled AJ and I found behind out oil tank that the previous owners had left there. I guess it pays to have a leak in the tank and need to replace the entire tank (that was said very sarcastically… oil tanks are horribly expensive). The basket, from Pottery Barn, is filled with all of our Christmas stories, ones we own and ones from the library.
I’ll share the rest of Drew’s Christmas-y room on Friday during our Christmas Home Tour! Speaking of house tour… I’ve organized a fantastic group of women to share their homes this week…
Here is the first group up to wow you! If you go to their site and it’s not live yet just check back this afternoon. 🙂
