Remember when I posted about an oversize black and white print I made for above our bed? And how I said I was keeping it up to see what I thought of it? The verdict was that I hated it. Above our bed needed some color; I needed to bring the pink from the other window over our bed.
After making some pillows with removable pillows (thanks to Kate from Centsational Girl for her fab tutorial… and visit this link to her blog for your own tutorial) and adding a plain light pink pillow from IKEA we have a little more of a feminine touch to the bedroom.
I stock pile my Pottery Barn / West Elm gift cards (if you ever want to get me a gift that would be a good idea. :)) and went into West Elm recently and found a shower curtain on sale for $25. Score! Especially considering I paid more than that for our shower curtains turned window curtains… Sorry, folks, it’s not for sale online anymore. It had this gray and white pattern on the bottom and then the top was just the white / off-white color in case you are looking for it.
The pattern is a bit more casual and large scale than I was expecting to end up with but I wasn’t finding any other fabrics that were making me wildly happy, so, to be able to make two Euro shams for free… well, I’ll take it.
The curtains was more off white than I wanted for the room so I threw it into the washer with some bleach and it lightened the whole thing (the grays are lighter as well).
This view here shows the West Elm shower curtains / window curtains and our West Elm shower curtains / Euro shams. That store is hooking me up this season.
AJ is doing some work finishing some plaster and paint on the other side of the room so the pink photos came down and I’m using them here (Drew is sleeping, otherwise I’d hang them up) until I get some new frames.
I wanted to include this photo to show you the gorgeous hydrangea I got from my mom’s today. She has these two huge bushes that I have cut tons down from yesterday and today and it doesn’t even look like I made a dent.
Have you had an “ah ha!” moment lately about decorating?
We spent two and a half hours at the beach today with a friend, it was so nice to have Drew be content playing in the water and throwing rocks nearly the whole time… instead of running all over the beach exploring (which is the way every other visit is). It felt a little more relaxing… and you know what else feels relaxing? That he’s just slept for more than two hours as a result of beachy, sunny exhaustion. 🙂
Oh, and for all you folks in the area… check out this fun dinner seminar my realtor hubby and I are hosting, we’d love if you could make it!
