Hi Friends! I’ve got a little deviation from the Twelve Days of Christmas today… I’m being interviewed on Porch.com… I’ve got eight of the questions they asked me here and there are eight more over on their blog HERE. I’ve got some sneak peeks of my Christmas decorating thrown in because I don’t know about you, but that’s what I love to see this time of year. 🙂
If your life were a song, what would it be?
Not a clue. I think I’d have to write the song. 🙂 If my life were a book it would probably be something similar to Mary Kay Andrews The Fixer Upper mixed with Jan Karon’s The Mitford Series.
Pinterest or Facebook?
I love Pinterest for both my personal life and for ideas for the blog and I love Facebook for keeping up with friends who are far away. I despise using Facebook for the blog though, I’d much prefer Instagram (which I LOVE).
If your walls could only be painted one color for the rest of your life, what would they be and why?
You are going to think I’m boring. 🙂 A light gray… it goes with almost any other color and allows the rest of the room stand out through accessories. I love the color of our bedroom… it’s Benjamin Moore’s Moonshine and it’s so calming.
What are you exceptionally good at? (Permission to brag)
Finding something that looks hideous and turning it into a gem… while operating on a big budget. I can’t tell you how excited I get when I see a house that is a complete dive or an awful piece of 1970s furniture because I just start to think “give me that ___ and it’ll look like a million bucks”. AJ and I went into a house yesterday that was absolutely hideous. Like lime green trim with neon blue walls and forest green carpet hideous. And that house made me crazily excited like few things do.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve collected?
I’m not a collector. But AJ collects really weird light plates from all the houses we’ve bought to rent out or flip. He has some “gems” in his collection. Since we are married I suppose you could say I collect them too.
What gets you in to the holiday spirit?
Christmas music; even in August. And Christmas catalogs… gosh do I love receiving those.
What’s a home trend you hope doesn’t exist in 100 years?
I’m not a big chevron fan which is weird because I adore herringbone, and would love to have a herringbone marble tiled floor in our bathroom.
Favorite words to live by?
I have this hanging on the bulletin board behind my desk: Don’t ask what the world needs. Find out what makes you come alive and go do it. The world needs more people who have come alive. -Howard Thurman-

I always love reading your posts! 🙂 I’m with you on the whole chevron trend. I just can’t seem to get into it. I love plaid, stripes and polka dots but can’t seem to get into chevron. I also love the idea of picking a neutral wall color because I love changing things around and adding pops of color with decorative accessories.
