Quintessential New England Fall. This photo from last year was taken near our last house and it inspired this post.
Here’s what I came up with based on that beautiful photo:
But it’s hard to believe I’m talking about fall when we just went to the beach yesterday, ate dinner on the porch and ended the day with a trip for mini golf and ice-cream.
I turned this photo into a watercolor with the app Waterlogue. If you haven’t used it before it’s only $2.99 and it’s one of the best apps I’ve ever used. I’ve used it to make a house watercolor HERE, some spring watercolors HERE and some free tablet / iPhone backgrounds HERE. I’m a little obsessed.
This past week I went to Hobby Lobby where they were having fall decor for 40% off. These mini white pumpkins are fake and even I, who bought them, know they are fake but I’m still fooled for a minute when I first look at this. I love this little pop of fall-ish orange in our office!
You can download the photo and / or watercolor for FREE here.
I’m not going to be doing a lot of fall decor, except for adding a few pumpkins here and there and sprucing up the outside of our home, mostly because I’m focusing on bigger things now like painting our built-ins and hanging artwork and getting our house to look like we didn’t move in a month ago. 🙂
I have a treat for you! All these wonderful women below are offering a free printable as well, I’m itching to go read each of their posts and see how creative they are!

There will be an update for you tomorrow morning by 10am! In the meantime… catch up on these posts if you missed them this past week:
Great photos – and it turned into a beautiful watercolor too! I tried to download the watercolour, but it seems that both links are sending me to the photo?
Just fixed it, Amanda! If it doesn’t work for some reason let me know and I can email it to you! Thanks for the heads up!
Makes me want to mump in my car and head up to New England for some leaf peeping! Love this – I used waterlogue for my printable too! PS your link isn’t working – I updated mine but you should let everyone know to upate theirs too
Thank you for the heads up, Kelly!
Come on over anytime you do head up our way! Off to check up your printable!
I’m such a fan of Waterlogue, but I’ve only used it for Instagram posts and backgrounds. Do you have an inexpensive source for turning those gorgeous images into prints?
Hi Cyndi! I get them printed at the college I used to work at right down the road, they are so inexpensive. Staples is pretty expensive unless you do a black and white engineer print.
Beautiful watercolour, however , the link does not work
Should be working now, Anita! I just checked both the photo and watercolor and they worked for me! Let me know if you can’t get it to work and I’ll just email it to you. 🙂
So pretty on your mantel.
Oh wow, this is beautiful and your mantel is gorgeous! Pinned
I just love this idea Jen! And it’s just a beautiful print, I love all of those beautiful fall colours!
Love the watercolor! So pretty! And the pumpkins are so cute!! I am so ready for fall!
Beautiful print! Your post prompted me to tell someone about the Waterlogue app and they were so excited. This is a very nice way to put a bit of your old home in your new one.
I love that app! And I love all of the pretty colors of your print! So pretty!
